The 2024 "My Beautiful Encounter with China" contest for international students in China will be launched soon. Organized by the Chinese Service Center for Scholarly Exchange (CSCSE) and hosted by the University of International Business and Economics (UIBE), the contest aims to enrich the experience of international students in China and promote cross-border cultural exchange and understanding. It is not only a contest, but also a cultural collision and spiritual dialogue. We are looking forward to your active participation!

Participants

International students currently studying in China, graduates working in China after graduating from Chinese universities, foreigners with experience in China, and students and scholars from overseas sinology institutes.

Theme

Under the theme of "My Beautiful Encounter with China", the contest encourages international students to tell vivid stories about China with fluent words and lively videos, and to share their insights about China's economic and social development, rural revitalization, scientific and technological innovation, traditional culture, etc.

Participants are also encouraged to refelct on China's policy advocacy on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence. From the "Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence" to "Building a Community with a Shared Future", China's values of "peace must be valued" and "harmony but not uniformity" have made remarkable contributions to the the world's progress toward peace, security, prosperity and progress.

Requirements

Focusing on the theme of “My Beautiful Encounter with China”, participants should record their stories of studying, living and working in China, tell vivid and true Chinese stories, and express the most touching feelings they have gained in China. The topic is self-defined.

The contest takes the form of essay and short video at the same time. Participants can choose their own form of participation, and can participate in both ways. All entries must be original and have not been published in other newspapers, books, magazines or websites.

Essay
There are no genre restrictions. The essay should be written in Chinese, and the length of entries should be about 1,000 characters.

Short Video
Duration: 1-6 minutes
Format: MP4/MOV
Language: Bilingual subtitle is recommended (Chinese+English or your mother tongue).
The video is recommended to be shot in a 16:9 landscape format with sharp focus and no corner markers, watermarks or logos.

How to Contribute

Submit the works to the Organizing Committee for selection
International students and graduates of universities in China can submit their works through the institutions from which they are studying or have graduated. Individual submissions are also welcome.

How to Register

a. Entries can be submitted by the institution's or embassy's contact person or by individual participants through the contest registration system.

Visit www.studyinchina.edu.cn and click the banner on the home page to jump to the registration system. Please click “Read more” at the bottom of the page and check the Guidelines for the Operation of the Registration System.

b. Entries can be submitted by the contact person of the university or embassy by emails at essay@studyinchina.edu.cn.

Notes

a. The entries must be named as follows: Nationality+Chinese name of the participant+University(if any) + Title of the entries.

b. The font of the essay should be Song font, small size 4, 1.5 times line spacing.

c. If you register by email, please provide the permanently valid Baidu Netdisk sharing link of the video in the email.

d. All participants are required to fill out and submit the Attachment1: Entry Information Form.

Participants who attend social platform contest can post their works on their personal accounts

Participants can participate in the short video platform contest by posting their works on Tiktok and WeChat Channels. Institutions and individuals participating in the platform contest should pay attention to the subscription account “留学中国StudyinChina”(ID: studyinchina)and the official website (www.studyinchina.edu.cn) for more details. The platform contest is scheduled to start in mid-October.
