Hunan First Normal University(湖南第一师范学院)

HNFNU is one of the oldest institutions of higher educations and a trailblazer in modern teacher education in China. Since its founding in 1903, HNFNU has been dedicated to preserving culture and promoting education. It is the cradle of a galaxy of celebrated educators and reformers in Chinese history, among whom is Mao Zedong, the founding father of PRC. Today, HNFNU has emerged as a first-tier university in Hunan Province, and serves as the National Key Cultural Relics Protection Institution and the National Primary Teacher Training Base.

Based in Changsha city, HNFNU has two campuses (the Chengnan Campus and the Dongfanghong Campus), which combined cover 221.74 acres. Its 1,129 faculty are engaged with researching and imparting knowledge to nearly 20,000 students. HNFNU provides generous financial aid programs, covering the tuition fee for nearly 50% of our students. The university has 11 degree-granting schools in addition to Chengnan academy, offering 32 undergraduate programs, including one state-level program, two provincial-level programs and two pilot programs.

HNFNU holds dear its mission to develop education and serve the society. It is the only university in China that focuses on cultivating primary teachers. HNFNU graduates are among the most excellent primary teachers within and beyond Hunan province. The university is also branching out to non-teacher education, covering a broad range of academic fields. With its complete and effective talent-cultivation system, HNFNU aspires to be a leading teaching-oriented university in Hunan and a renowned one in China.
