Journey of a youth

“The Xipu Road in Chengdu (“Nanjing”) used to be my home, I came here in April when the plum had ripened. The clear water of the Yangtze River is flowing down, and the fine drizzle is going on.” Nanjing was the first Chinese city I knew in my junior high school. The teacher recited Du Fu's poems and described the city's long history to me. The thoughts of mine gradually floated out of the classroom, as if they had come to the drizzling and magnificent ancient city.

Youth dream dwellt in my heart deeply. And six months ago, I finally set foot on this land.

Just arrived, I was surprised by China's convenient transportation and fast consumption mode. But the most shocking thing I feel is the Chinese character ads everywhere, so ostentatious, so lively, as if they were saying welcome you to China. For a time, the sense of achievement swept away my uneasiness and hesitation about the future.

The logistic efficiency here is even more astonishing. Online-ordered items can be received in up to three days, return/refund service is perfect so that you can go shopping online without any worry. Of course, what moved me most was the enthusiasm and kindness of the Chinese people. When I was addicted to online shopping, a pile of mountain-like express delivery gave me a blow. Just as I decided to slowly move the express back to my dormitory one by one. Perhaps seeing my embarrassed expression, a senior student came to help. Knowing that I am a foreign student, she is more enthusiastic to introduce to me the local cuisine in Nanjing and the scenic spots worth visiting. I was infected by her and put down the restraint in my heart, and began to talk freely with her. In this way, I made my first Chinese friend.

In the process of communicating with Chinese students, I not only got a lot of correction in Chinese pronunciation, but also changed my thinking mode to some extent. They tend to be mature and independent. After exchanging opinions with each other, I began to get fascinated by the feeling of communicating with them, and my perspective gradually got widened. The resonance of thought has brought me closer to my Chinese friends. In order to let me know more about China, they often take me to visit some famous scenic spots to experience local culture and customs.

The Memorial Hall of the Victims of the Nanjing Massacre by Japanese Invaders was the first stop for me to know Nanjing. Never will I forget the feeling of visiting, which is a shock from the heart and soul. The interview in the shadow room made me cry, and at that moment I knew that the peace we used to take for granted was not a matter of course. It deserves us to maintain and fight for. So far, the four characters inlaid on the memorial wall, "Remember history, Cherish peace" is still vividly kept in my mind.

That day, I carried a heavy heart back to the dormitory, I thought a lot. I hope I have enough ability to protect everything I want to protect, and only when I have enough ability can I do so. I like one of the words in "Youth China Say" most, "Youth is strong, then country is strong." When the country is strong enough, it can protect the hearts of young people, and so does a generation of young people. “Don’t be idle until you get white hair.” As a young generation, we should do our best to help build the world and fight for our endeavor.

I think I get ready.
